How to Make A Spell Spray

persephoneandthepomegranates:

In my All You Need to Know About Being a College Witch Post, I mentioned making spell sprays which are water-based sprays infused herbs/essential oils. It’s a dorm-safe version of burning incense/candles based on your intent. I will be releasing some of my spell spray recipes over the next few weeks but you are more than welcome to make your own recipes.

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • 1 Coffee Mug
  • Herbs and/or Essential Oils
  • 1 Spray Bottle

Directions:

  1. Heat up your water – You can do this whichever way suits you. In the dorm, we had a hot water dispenser in the kitchen. There was also a microwave, but you need to use a microwave-safe mug or you’ll set the fire alarms. Trust me on this one. You do not want to be the reason why everyone is woken up at 3 am by the fire alarm. Trust me it’s in your best interest. Now I live in an apartment, I now have a tea kettle that I use with my stove. In lew of a tea kettle, you can use a pot with a lid.
  2. Once the water is boiling, take it off the heat and add your herbs and essential oils – A budget way of getting herbs is opening up an herbal tea bag. If you are using essential oils, make sure when using the spray to not get it on your skin. Water does not properly dilute essential oils for them to be used topically, you need to use a carrier oil like coconut or argan oil. However, don’t add that to the spray because the oil will clog the spray nozzle.
  3. Once your herbs have steeped for at least 3 minutes, strain the herbs out and pour the hot liquid into a coffee mug to cool – If the spray bottle is plastic, you will need to do this step because the hot water will warp the bottle and render it useless. Leave out to cool on the counter or put in your fridge to speed up the process. if your bottle is not plastic, please skip to the next step.
  4. Once cool, pour your spray into the bottle – You may be tempted to add loose herbs to the bottle. If they are thicker than the hole in the dip tube (the thing that’s attached to the nozzle and looks like a straw), you can add them. Otherwise, smaller herbs will clog the nozzle. No witch wants to stop mid-spell to unclog her bottle.
  5. *Optional Step* Decorate your bottle however you see fit – Personally, I like to use those large envelope labels on my bottles and decorate them with fancy lettering and doodles.

IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM IS MAGICK OR WITCHCRAFT A REPLACEMENT FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT, MEDICATION(S), OR THERAPY. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SUPPORT SYSTEM OR THERAPIST KNOWS THAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
