Lunar corona

These coloured rings around the moon or sun result from diffraction of light rays through the water droplets that form clouds in our atmosphere. If the drops are similar sized, multiple rings can develop, each becoming dimmer. The colours are enhanced by a longer exposure time, visible in the faint star trails.
