Ok so somebody asked for some tips on starting their grimoire so here’s this long ass post for anyone who needs it.

You do not need some big fancy notebook it can be a really cheap one or it can be online or in a scrapbook/binder

Organizing a Grimoire

🍁This isn’t needed, if you prefer the write as you go method that’s fine.

🍁For those of us who prefer to have it organized a table of contents is a must.

🍁Try and plan what your going to write down when. If it helps write down in a notebook or in your book of shadows every idea you can think of putting in your grimoire and number them.

🍁It’s ok if it’s not ‘perfect’ chances are this is your first grimoire so not only is ok its natural to make a few mistakes here and there

🍁Write in pencil if you don’t like crossing out mistakes or using tipex

🍁The key thing to remember is that it doesn’t need to look ‘Tumblr perfect’ as long as you understand it

I didn’t really know what I was doing when I started my book of shadows/ grimoire tbh, I just started writing random things down that I didn’t really need

What is a Book of Shadows??📕

A book of shadows is a journal a witch logs all the things they learn, and all the things they want to learn. it’s similar to a grimoire, but a grimoire is just straight up information with no personal stuff in it, but a book of shadows is super personal to the witch.

Now, what you all need

   since i’m starting to work on getting my own Grimoire better organized and figuring out what i think fits best in it for me, i feel like i should log some ideas that have helped me in my journey in hopes that it could help someone else just starting out. but just remember that your Grimoire is your own and personal to you and you alone so you don’t need to put everything in if it doesn’t vibe well with you or doesn’t fit into your craft. your book should hold things that are personal to you and your craft and what you believe and you don’t need to have every bit of knowledge in your book.

   obviously you can pick and choose whatever works best for yourself and your craft, and i don’t even have some of these in my own book but still thought they would be helpful to include for witches like me who are just starting out who need ideas of what their books can hold! i’ll probably start posting more about my grimorire and how i keep it organized as well!
