“We need to hold deities accountable for their flaws and bad behavior!!”
1. We’re mortals, they’re Gods. We don’t get to make that choice.
2. The myths were man-made, some were meant to teach lessons or be metaphors, some of them you’re suppose to interpret, and even if they ARE true, who cares? It’s been 1000+ years, this is a different culture with a different society and I think the Gods understand that.
3. How do you expect to ‘hold deities accountable’, exactly? By scolding them? Giving them the finger? Not worshiping them or giving them offerings? Because we, as Hellenic polytheists, are suppose to worship them and give offerings, and if you think you’re ‘punishing’ our Gods by not doing those things, I’m willing to bet that the Gods will not be hurt by some mortal’s pride and arrogance.
4. Take your hubris somewhere else. There’s nothing to hold the Gods accountable FOR. You’re going to ‘punish’ them just off of the slight POSSIBILITY that our myths are even true? How sad for you.
