Illuminate My Path
A sunshine inspired tarot spread

This tarot spread has been inspired by the Sunshine that has been gracing my home in recent weeks; all is aglow and all in bright, and thus it feels right to utilise this Sunshine to shed some light onto ourselves and see where we are headed.

1. The Ground: Just where is your current path based? In what, is your foundation; your beginning; your inspiration? What drives you? Is it growth? Learning? Spirituality? This card will tell you.

2. The Sky: Where will this path take you? You are headed up and away, but where is up and away? What will following this path lead you towards? Fulfillment, hurt, or something else entirely,…

3. The 1st Branch (physical): Paths often wind and twist and branch off into new and interesting places – where else will this path lead to? What opportunities that you did not expect will reveal themselves to you should you continue on this journey?

4. The 2nd Branch (emotional): This path may open up or make you vulnerable to new emotions and feelings; how does this path make you feel and how can you deal with these emotions?

Feel free to use and reblog as you wish, but do not re-post or remove the caption. If you use this spread in paid readings, all I ask is that credit is given to me as its creator.

This is a masterpost of tarot & oracle card spreads. None of them are mine; this is solely a compilation of various spreads found on tumblr. I’ve broken them down into sections to sort through them with ease. This is not a full list, but do enjoy the spreads listed below. Note: Witchcraft is NOT a replacement for medical care. This is the spread I used to interview my new deck. I based it off some other writings I’ve seen, so it isn’t the most original, but hopefully still useful. I hope you find it helpful when trying to understand more about a deck’s personality!

1. What’s your main characteristic?
This is what is fundamental about your deck, what will always be true about it.

2. What element do you align with?
Different decks align with different elements. It breaks down something like this:
Major Arcana = spirit (good at spiritual matters and introspection)
Wands = fire (potentially “sassy”, good at matters of passion)
Swords = air (detached, intellectual, and introspective)
Cups = water (good at matters of the heart and being kind)
Pentacles/Coins = earth (grounded, contemplative, good at real life stuff)
Furthermore, the card you draw might also hint at a characteristic. For ex., the eight of wands would show that your deck is good at future-telling, especially of what your dreams and passions will be

3. How do you see yourself?
This is really a personality question. It is less “honest” than the first position, because it is more subjective.

4. How do you see me?
This is how the deck currently views you. That is subject to change.

5. How do you view life?
This way you can tell if your deck is optimistic, pessimistic, or realistic.

6. What can you teach me?
The lessons your deck has to give.

7. What do you find easy?
The sorts of questions your deck excels at.

8. What do you struggle with?
The sorts of questions your deck finds more difficult to answer.

9. What do I need to know?
This could be general, or it could be what you need to know about the deck.

10. What do you want from me?
What the deck wants out of your relationship.

11. How can I improve our relationship?
What you can do to bond more with your deck.

12. Outcome of our relationship
Not so much a fixed outcome as a mutable one, one that shifts with how you approach the deck and use it.

Things I Think Newbie Tarot Readers Need To Know

sageandstudies:

cats-tarot-wine:

static-chaos:

1. You can store your decks in whatever way you choose. There’s no real right or wrong way, aside from tossing them in the trash.

2. You don’t NEED a “sacred space” to read. You can read hanging upside down on the monkey bars if you’re up for a challenge.

3. You don’t need to be a witch to read tarot. I say again, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A WITCH TO READ TAROT.

4. Tarot cards hold as much power as you let them. Some view them as sacred items, others view them as just a fun card game. No one else can tell you how to view them, that’s just a personal thing.

5. There is no real *set* way to read. The majority of the reading is intuition-based, so trust your gut.

6. You don’t need thousands of decks. (Though, I mean, you may want them.) The amount of decks you have/don’t have doesn’t measure your abilities.

7. Don’t get put off by people who think your reading was irrelevant in their life. Sometimes, readings take time to actually manifest. You’re doing great. Don’t let this deter you.

8. The amount of times you cleanse your deck is ENTIRELY up to you. Some people do it after every reading. Some people do it..well, maybe never. The choice is yours.

9. There is no right or wrong way to shuffle your cards. At. All.

10. Sometimes reading for yourself can be hard. It’s okay to have someone else read for you. Seriously.

11. Don’t be intimidated if you’ve just started. We’ve all started from day one.

12. You may run into some elitists, and while you shouldn’t punch them in the face, you should make sure what they say doesn’t make you uncomfortable in how you do things. This is all YOU, not THEM.

Feel free to add on to this if y’all have a little something to put.

You can buy your own decks!! No one has to buy them for you or gift them!

You’re allowed to read for yourself on top of that! Some older people in the community may tell you it’s a no-no because of personal bias–it’s not. Do it. Read for yourself.

I researched about familiars today, after re-reading the post I reblogged about them.
I looked for a tarot spread to help me find my familiar, but I didn’t find any (if you know one, feel free to share it in the comments) so I made my own !

And I made a sigil too. Because I love sigils. (Same, if you know other sigils with a similar effect, don’t be shy !)

Precision about the tarot spread :
The first question might also be “Am I ready / what do I need to be ready [to find a familiar] ?”
