I’ve been avoiding sharing this with my loyal followers because I’d hoped it would resolve itself. But sadly, it seems the time has come for me to call these folks out publicly as common decency doesn’t seem to be motivation enough for them to realize the error of their ways.

@Themysteriousspirit has stolen the name that I’ve been using in art and in business for the last 5 years online and at festivals. They are falsely using the name “Spiritus Arcanum” on their website, their Instagram, and on their products.

I have been in contacted with them about this and they have essentially behaved in an entitled and unapologetic manner about their use of my business name. Arguing that it’s not a *unique* name and because it’s not legally trademarked they are somehow deserving of being able to co-opt it. Not only is this a poor business philosophy on their part, it’s completely unscrupulous behavior from those who claim to understand magic.

I can’t help but see this as at best an inconsiderate and selfish act on their part, and at worst an attempt to mislead my followers and patrons into confusing their work for mine, and to piggyback upon the work I’ve done over the years under the banner of Spiritus Arcanum. Either way it’s not a good look for a newly formed business.

They have been saying for weeks that they will be changing their brand and not using Spiritus Arcanum on their products, website, or Instagram anymore. Yet they haven’t made any changes for in this direction. This after weeks of having a “rebranding sale”

I tried to give them time to do the right thing. I’ve been quite about all of this for the most part, and more than cordial in my communications with them.
But time is up and I cannot let this stand any longer.
