Among the many things Set was patron of—beer, the desert, storms and other northerly weather, raw physical strength, lettuce, protection of the Pharoah, animals with red fur or skin—one of the most enduring was his patronage of foreigners. Together with his opposition to the chaos-spirit Apep (embodiment of all that is malign and destructive), and in spite of later (as i recall, politically motivated) demonization of him that influence records handed down via Greek writers, Set is and always has been absolutely a god who would oppose fascism, racism, and homophobia.
