sobekreshuten:

Bathe me in your scent, O Sobek.
I have purified myself with the Eye of Heru
so I can make these rituals with you.

As part of my daily ritual preparations, I recite the above while anointing myself with perfume (recitation adapted from Per Sebek!)! Awhile back I bought the above perfume oil from Nocturne Alchemy, an indie perfume brand that makes the most amazing scents inspired by Ancient Egypt. And since the scent is literally named Sobek, I always get a little joy out of the recitation’s double-meaning 🙂

The scent comprises:  Guava, Lime, Awapuhi Seaberry, Bergamot, Honeydew, Ylang Ylang, Myrrh, Clover, Tonka, White Amber, Chestnut and Brown Sugar.

The first “whiff” you get is definitely the guava/lime combo and a little bit of the bergamot, rounded out by the Ylang Ylang; I can only detect a hint of myrrh and a heady animalistic something I don’t see in the notes – but after a couple hours, the brown sugar and amber really amp up on my skin, and it becomes an intoxicatingly warm, sweet skin musk – just like Sobek! I think they did a great job of capturing Him.

Nocturne Alchemy is famous for its complex and well blended incense, amber, and vanilla scents; it is also infamous for its arcane descriptions. Luckily there are plenty of reviews available for most of their perfumes, and oh my goodness,  literally all the things I’ve ordered from the brand have been amazing. I had no idea perfume could even smell this good, lol.

They have a few lines particularly relevant to Kemetics: one based off of the Netjeru, one on meditations with the Netjeru, and finally one inspired by various temples.

The brand is vegan and cruelty-free, which is very important to me 🙂
