I mean sure syncretism is a thing, and can happen quite naturally… but there is also something called just being rude. People (especially white people) shouldn’t claim authority over sacred concepts and symbols that wasn’t theirs to begin with.
I don’t think we can talk about misappropriation with religions: they have always influenced each other.
