Oolong tea – 5 bags – one per element, balance, good health
Green tea – 1 bag – Immortality and wisdom
White quartz – 1 – Enchance energies, amplify intent
Something to burn herbs in (metal tea infuser for me)
Rubbing alchoal / 90 proof alchoal / Florida water – spray into bath water in a cross pattern – cleansing, extinguish flames against you, dispels ill will, destroys malicious intent
Witch hazel – spray 3 over lapping circles in the bath working from head position towards the drain of the tub – Cleansing, extra magical strength, bring in beauty
Holy water – blessings, protection, purity, holy intervention, blessings from heaven
Pslams:
(pray in order)
104 – Bless tools and herbs (before bath)
75 – cleanse away & forgive sins
136- forgiveness of sin
88 – removes evil
89:19-21 – psychic vision (Replace Davidâs name with yours)
92 – bring good fortune
150 – Thanks to God (say after exiting bath)
âŚď¸Step by Step:
Organize and bless all of the tools and herbs youâll use before running the bath water.
Clean bathtub with rubbing alchoal / Florida water.
Add herbs to water (save a pinch of each to burn) and Pray psalms while bath is running.
Light candles and burn herbs – smoke cleanse everything at this point
Place saint icons and offering accordingly (this is how I did mine)
North corner – Earth – St Jude
East Corner – Air – Santo NiĂąo
South corner – Fire – Guadalupe
West Corner – Water – White quartz (not a saint but it 2as placed with them to complete the circle)
Step into bath, kneel and greet each saint appropriately, and give offerings, working counter-clockwise starting with the Virgin of Guadalupe (or highest ranked spirit so-to speak. If youâre working with the Oishas or another pantheon that has specific orders for spirits do THAT)
âŚď¸While in the bath:
Meditate on your life and confess the sins that weigh on your soul. Ask for them to be taken and destroyed.(say them out loud and ask for forgiveness and guidence)
Ask for all of the negitive emotions that bind you to be dispelled and removed.
In its place, ask for blessing of good energy (protection, love, compassion, understanding, enlightenment, etc)
You canât JUST remove bad energy without replacing it with something, in this case some positives.
Splash the water over the top of you head while you ask for these gifts and as it trickles down visualize all of your sins and negitive energy and emotions washing away. Whatâs left is happiness and blessings in abundance
At this point, meditate in the bath water on any questions or concerns you may have. Focus on your breathing and allow yourself to transcend into a vision – state.
âŚď¸As you Exit the bath:
Thank and dismiss the saints respectfuly starting with St Jude (or the space you ended when greeting them) then working clockwise.
Donât let these herbs go down the drain just because itâs awful for your plumbing. Fish then out and throw them in the trash, coffee is okay to go down.
Let the water drain and take all your âbadâ with it.
Pray Pslam 150 to thank God for the blessing and forgiveness you just received
Wash your face, brush your teeth, comb your hair – do your regular stuff to get ready
Once your done, take 1 drink of Holy water as a seal to the spell. It will be like a cork holding in the good while sealing out the bad. (And if youâre like me and getting ready to pass out by this point itâll take you off the edge)
Alright kids, thatâs it! Youâre blessed and cleansed. Your sins have washed away and forgiven. Youâre abundantly blessed and protected – pass it on.
Ritual impurity can mean both being physical and mental unprepared to go before the gods. It can mean that you covered in dirt or your head just isnât in the right place for a ritual.
Ritual Purity is a selection of actions that are meant to clean the body and get you focused on the ritual that you are about to do. In a modern kemetics practice this may be, taking a shower, brushing teeth, turning phones onto silent and changing into some clean clothes.
Half of ritual purity is about meeting the gods, a good metaphor is to image you have important guests coming over. Youâd tidy up a little, wouldnât be wearing week old clothes and would try to make sure you have drinks to offer them. Itâs the same principles for ritual purity.
Lots of things make up ritual purity and I made a long post about it here:
The other half of ritual purity is making sure your head is in the right place. If youâre doing a ritual, you donât want to be worrying about âdid I leave the iron onâ or âthis top is too tightâ. The ideal is that your mind is purely focused on the gods.
The actions that you do to become ritually pure may be completely different to my actions. It is a ritual preparation to meet the divine!

Hope this was helpful and please let me know if you have any follow up questions!
Iâm sorry that youâre unwell, I hope youâre feeling better soon đ
So ritual purity, is basically the standard of cleanliness that was necessary to go into a temple in AE. As with most Kemetic things, it has a practical and spiritual purpose. âRitual purityâ is used by modern Kemetics as anything from absolute rules, to just a metaphor.
Things that made/make up ritual purity:
âď¸Bathing before entering the temple.
This makes sense in the Ancient world where you might be covered in dust or dirt, and wouldnât want to track anything into the temple. I interpret this as taking a shower before I approach my shrine.
âď¸Shaving before entering the temple.
It was common in AE for men and women to shave most of their body (you could leave your eyebrows, unless you were mourning). This was simply to prevent the spread of lice and because you are cooler with less hair.
I interpret this as shave what you normally would, as I have no intention of shaving my head for example.
âď¸Washing with natron.
So natron was ritually pure, but it was also a detergent and worked exactly like soap. This was practical for getting clean. Some priests even ingested natron before going into the temples so their insides would be squeaky clean – I absolutely do NOT recommend doing this.
For my interpretation of this, I have a few flakes of natron in my body wash and put a few flakes in a bottle of mouthwash, and this seems to work quite well.
âď¸Abstaining from sex for a few days before hand
This is making you ritually pure, because to an extend you are withdrawing from daily life. Changing your focus from people to the gods.
I personally donât obey this, because honestly Iâm not good enough at planning.
âď¸Abstaining from eating certain meats, fish or fruits for a few days before hand
This changed temple to temple, and cult to cult. Different temples demanded different foods be taboo. I also donât follow this one, because I havenât been able to find any reliable sources on Hathor and taboo foods.
âď¸Wearing clean clothes made of linen (or cheater pelt) and papyrus sandals.
Part of this is that each item of clothing has significance, and would act almost like a uniform putting a persons mind in focus with what they were about to do. Also clean clothes meant that nothing could get tracked in from the outside.
I interpret this as just wearing clean clothes, and cheater pelts are not practical or ethical to get a hold of these days.
âď¸Not going to the temple when menstruating.
Practical, because before reliable sanitary products it would be difficult to remain clean, and cramps are the worst. Sometimes I can barely stand let alone performing a carefully though out ritual.
This one is up to everyone who menstruates and is their own choice on if they approach their shrine or not. I personally tend not to.
âď¸Not going to the temple if you are bleeding or sick.
This was practical, you didnât want to be changing bandages in the middle of the temple. And because it was a communal place, if you went when you were sick it would just spread it around.
When Iâm sick, I tend not to approach my shrine. Unless I am approaching my shrine to ask for help with my sickness. I often offer to Selqet when I have a sore throat, for example.
âď¸âď¸âď¸
All of these are things that make up ritual purity, and were designed for a society over two thousand years old. They were designed so that a person could be well presented when they approached the gods, and designed so that a person was only thinking about the gods when they did. They werenât worried about how hot and sweaty they were, because theyâd just bathed. They werenât worried that their tunic wasnât a good as another priests, because everyone wore white linen. They werenât worried they were getting everyone else sick, because they were at home resting.
How you want to interpret ritual purity for your own practice is up to you, and may be completely different to the next person. The end goal is to approach the gods so that you are calm and can focus purely on them. Even if that means just splashing your face and hands with water, and thatâs it.
I sometimes approach my shrine when Iâm ritually impure, but state it. So Iâll say something like, âForgive me gods, I am impure. Yet I have come before you to begâŚâ
âď¸âď¸âď¸
This was a really long one, and so I really hope in the info-dump I answered your question! Let me know if anything doesnât make sense or if you have any follow up questions đ
So you have a few options if you want to hurt the sn/a/ke. They are often called execrations.
The two top rituals that I would recommend are an extremely long one called âThe ritual of Overthrowing [the sn/a/ke]â and âBreaking the Red Potâ.
âď¸ Breaking the Red Pot
This is a mini ritual that is often performed at Wep Ronpet, itâs pretty simple. You get a pot that is red, or you paint it red, and you write the name of the sn/a/ke on it or draw a picture of it. Then smash the fudge out of that pot. Smash it into a hundred pieces. And throw the pieces away. It is done.
If you want to know more about the theory, there is a whole chapter here:
âď¸ The ritual of Overthrowing [the sn/a/ke]
If youâre up for a more complicated ritual, this is the one I would recommend. It will take a lot more prep for and be wary that it takes a lot out of you. I last did this ritual for the birthday of the sn/a/ke and once I was done I was absolutely exhausted and slept for a good few hours in the middle of the day.
The last time I did this ritual I made a record which is here:
âď¸ Faulkner, R. O. The Bremner-Rhind Papyrus: III: D. The Book of Overthrowing âApep. The Journal of Egyptian Archaeology, Vol. 23, No. 2 (Dec., 1937), pp. 166-185 [Jstor]
âď¸ Etneral Egypt by Richard Reily, pp. 163-175.
These are the only two places that I know of offhand, but there may be more. đ
âď¸âď¸âď¸
Saying all of that, if youâre not able to do a full ritual. You can always just offer more to your gods, as offering to gods strengths then in their fight.
You can also hurt it by helping the living. Giving to appropriate charities, helping the kemetic community and my UPG is that just living will hurt it. đ
âď¸âď¸âď¸
I hope this was helpful and please let me know if youâd like me to elaborate on anything đ
